Scholarship Cup | Highest Chapter GPA
The Scholarship Cup was presented to Triangle by Founding Father Arthur Schwerin ill07 in support of his belief that any college organization must be based primarily upon excellence in scholarship if it is to survive and succeed. It is awarded annually to the chapter that has the highest scholastic record during the preceding year. The original cup was destroyed in a fire at the Purdue Chapter house on October 28, 1932. The cup was subsequently replaced.
In 1974, the Triangle Fraternity Education Foundation purchased the third incarnation of the Scholarship Cup for the Fraternity. The cup it replaced had no space left of engraving the names of winning chapters. Because Purdue had won the cup more than twice as often as its nearest competitor, Penn State, the retired cup was entrusted to the Purdue Chapter.
