Catalyst Regional Meetings

Program Overview

Triangle values the ability to connect members from all over the country in an effort to share best practices, socialize, learn, challenge and create. For the 2016-2017 year we will be offering seven Catalysts, previously known as Regional Leadership Conferences.

Catalysts will offer chapter advisors the opportunity to be trained on one to two FHSI risk management modules so that they can then offer the program to their respective chapters. Catalysts will also offer active and new members the opportunity to participate in a series of round tables that will focus on chapter best practices, values discussion, and soft-skill development.

Who Should Attend

Active and new members who are looking to take an active role in making their chapter or colony better and stronger.

Active and new members who are looking to connect with brothers from their regional area.

Active and new members who are interested in idea sharing with chapters and colonies that may be similar or different from their own.

Chapter advisors or advisory board members who will be trained on one to two Fraternal Health & Safety Modules that they can facilitate for their respective chapters.

What Should I Expect?

Expect to spend your Saturday at one of Triangle’s chapter or colonies host institutions.  Catalysts will take place on a Saturday and will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m.

Active and new members should expect to participate in a series of roundtables with other chapter and colony brothers to idea share, challenge, and ask questions.  You should also expect to meet new people, make new friends, and leave with new resources.

Chapter advisors or advisory board members should expect to be trained on one to two Fraternal Health & Safety Modules that cover topics including: Hazing Prevention & Bystander Intervention, Preventing Sexual Misconduct, and Choices about Alcohol & Other Drugs.  Chapter advisors will leave having all of the tools, resources, and skills to be able to facilitate modules to their respective chapter.

All participants should expect to pay a $20.00 registration fee prior to attending.  This will cover materials, staff support, a snack, and your lunch.

Catalysts will be held all over the country at member chapters’ host institution.  The program will take place on a Saturday and will go from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Participants will pay $20 to attend and will be provided with a snack and lunch.

Confirmed Catalyst dates, locations, and registration will go live in September.

How Can My Chapter Host?

Chapters or colonies who are interested in hosting a Catalyst at their campus will need to complete the Catalyst Host Application.

This map depicts a suggested regional breakdown for Triangle chapters and colonies.  The goal is to host one Catalyst Meeting in each region.  Any chapter or colony can and should apply and may offer to host a meeting in the fall or spring semester.

What Are the Responsibilities of a Host Chapter?

  1. Confirm a date that works for host chapter, institution, and headquarters staff.
  2. Secure three meeting spaces all located in the same campus building, preferably close to one another.
  3. Secure a location for check-in.
  4. Order food for event lunch and purchase snacks for participants (paid by HQ).
  5. Manage the marketing and promotion of the event.
  6. Confirm AV and room set-up needs with University.
  7. Create signage and provide parking details for participants.
  8. Offer a social gathering following the event for any interested active or alumni member.
