The time has come yet again to win your chapter or colony $100,000. That’s right, The Judy & Larry Garatoni Building Better Men Chapter Endowment Fund Program is back for year three and offering more money than ever. Not only are they still offering the first place winner $100,000 and the second place winner $25,000 but they are now offering an additional $25,000 to chapters or colonies that have only been in existence for 10 years or less. And what makes all of this even better, is that the program is easier than ever.
In past years you would have to spend hours filling out a long and almost tedious application detailing all of the hard work that you did over the past academic year. And while we still want to know about all of the hard and great work you did – we already have that information – from the Pyramid. Yes, that’s right, we have combined programs. This year our Better Men scoring will come from Pyramid scores that have been assessed throughout the year via chapter visits, ChapterSpot submissions, and yearly consulting.
Now, of course, we can’t make it that easy on you. We need a little more than just some scores. We want to hear from you and the people that work with you to truly get a feel for how your year went and why you are deserving of potentially $100k. So, in addition to Pyramid scores, you will be required to submit a Letter of Recommendation from a member of your advisory team. This can be your chapter advisor, an advisory board member, your faculty advisor, or even your Greek advisor. In addition to the Letter of Recommendation, we also want a minimum of a one-page reflection letter written by a member of the chapter highlighting your year. We want to know about your chapter’s accomplishments, improvements, challenges that you overcame, why you feel you are deserving of the BBM award, and what it means to you to be a BBM chapter.
Your supplemental documents and any updates to your Pyramid scores are due to Director of Education & Communication, Ariel Tarosky (ariel@triangle.org) by June 1st, 2018. You read that right! You have the opportunity to make updates to your Pyramid scores before June 1st too! Hopefully, you have received your scores and feedback since your consultant visit and have been working to make improvements in various areas. If you have, feel free to send those my way. For example, maybe you have amped up your academic program since last fall, or maybe your chapter GPA has increased, or maybe you have put on some really great risk management programming since we last talked. We want to know about those things and they will greatly increase your scores. Send us everything you have (philanthropy dollars donated, service hours performed, chapter GPA, leadership positions on campus, etc.) Every little bit will help get you one step closer to $100k!
