Our National Leadership

From the beginning, Triangle has been led by extraordinary men. Because of that leadership, we have prospered in good times and persevered during difficult ones. In 1909, Founder McCoy became the fraternity’s first national president- a distinction held by 74 men since.

Today’s presidents serve two-year terms and are assisted by eleven national officers that make up the National Council. The National Council is responsible for directing the national staff and an extensive network of volunteers. And as we strive to “create a better world”, we continue to be lead by better men.

National Council

The role of National Council is ever evolving.  In the past, National Council monitored the day-to-day operations of the Fraternity.  Today, National Council acts in a strategic capacity.

Within Triangle’s national organization, National Council is responsible for setting strategies and measuring progress toward strategy-level goals that affect all of Triangle.  In its role of leading the Fraternity, National Council always strives to act in a way that represents the founding principles of Triangle.  It values and strives to properly protect the physical and mental health and safety of Triangle members.  National Council acts to foster the financial stability and growth of Triangle and acts to continuously improve the amount of member participation and investment in Triangle.

Since National Council is responsible for defining, setting, and maintaining a strategic direction for Triangle Fraternity, Council members are responsible for evaluating the needs and desires of Triangle Brothers, chapters, and associations.  Councilmen are expected to learn about Triangle, its operating environment, and business policies related to operating and improving the organization.

Standing Committees

Committees are a critical part of the fraternity structure and are used in numerous ways.  Each committee is comprised of a councilman, staff member, active, and alumni member and can consider and shape the vast majority of the fraternity’s vision.  A majority of committees are formed for specific purposes, often to study a particular issue. Committee members are intended to serve as the voice of their constituency so that the best interest of our membership is considered.  A number of standing committees have been established to assist in the fulfillment of the Strategic Plan.

The committees are as follows:

  •  Growth
  • Approved Courses
  • Standards
  • Educational Programming
  • Ritual
  • Communication
  • Finance
  • Nominating
  • Awards

Chapter Advisors

Chapter Advisors, whether they are alumni of Triangle or a Friend of Triangle are committed to aiding in the success of their respective chapter or colony.  Chapter advisors serve as the chair of the chapter advisory board and take an active role in the organization.  The nature and style of that role is left to the determination of the chapter and its advisor. The role of the Chapter Advisor is to guide, advise, and support the chapter and its officers and monitor their progress. A chapter may choose to have one Chapter Advisor or a team of advisors.

The Chapter Advisor needs to be willing to devote significant time to the chapter, be skilled in organizational and leadership development, and proficient in the National Organization’s policies and their interpretation. It is through committed alumni and volunteers support that chapters achieve their greatest success.
